CYCLING JACKETS - PREPARED FOR ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS

Not all jackets are the same, and you will realise this when you start your search at Keller Sports. You will find light jackets for the transitional season and discreetly windy weather as well as extremely well insulated garments for the deepest winter and heavy rain. As is typical for cycling, the arms and back are cut slightly longer and the jackets have an aerodynamic shape. What all models have in common is a breathable design that ensures an optimal body climate. That's why you won't sweat in the cycling jackets and will always feel comfortable, unless the weather suddenly turns into the complete opposite.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CYCLING JACKET

Do you like to be out on your bike early in the morning, when the first rays of sunlight fight their way through the early morning mist and a cool breeze hits your calves? Then a fleece jacket is usually sufficient. Fleece cycling jackets are made of a very soft and warm polyester material that has excellent moisture management properties. You feel warm and dry - as long as it doesn't start raining, because fleece jackets are not waterproof. If wetness is expected from above, you'd better get your rain cycling jacket out of the wardrobe. Thanks to innovative technologies, it is not only waterproof, but also breathable and has the same body-hugging cut as all the other parts of your cycling gear. If you're one of those people who don't mind even the coldest temperatures, it's best to buy a special insulating jacket. These are equipped with a warm hood and offer you additional protection from the sun's intense rays on mountain tours.

A SOFTSHELL JACKET ESPECIALLY FOR CYCLISTS

Softshell jackets are popular with both men and women, as they are ideal for changeable and wet weather. The front is water- and wind-repellent. Depending on the type of stretch fabric, the garments have a water column of about 5000 mm. If you choose a particularly warm model, the inside is usually brushed. The warm and protective softshell jackets also offer you optimal freedom of movement and flexibility.

EXTRAS FOR EVEN MORE CYCLING FUN

There's more to a cycling jacket like this than just a multi-layered, elastic fabric and a simple zip. Even the zip is equipped with various refinements, depending on the model, for example with a slide including a locking system so that it doesn't jingle while cycling. Reflectors are important so that drivers can quickly recognise you on the road. Either the zip is designed to glow in the dark when illuminated, or you'll find reflective elements on your jacket in other places for added safety on the road. Laser-cut ventilation holes under the arms are especially present in the slightly lighter models for the transitional season. These ensure better air circulation and a pleasant microclimate under the jacket.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF CYCLING JACKETS

There are no disadvantages to a cycling jacket in and of itself, except that you have to store it somehow if you want to take it off when you're out and about. Apart from that, all jackets are very practical and equipped with numerous features that make cycling as comfortable as possible. For many athletes, the cycling jacket is the top layer of the onion-skin look.

ADVANTAGES:

  • flexible use
  • close-fitting cut
  • full freedom of movement
  • relatively light
  • fast drying
  • good UV protection
  • many models can also be used as leisure wear

DISADVANTAGES:

  • difficult to store when the weather gets warmer
