Comfort and cushioning: the adidas SolarGlide
Everyday life doesn't need technologies that trim your run to speed. The comfort has to be right. That's why adidas not only uses its pleasantly soft Boost damping in the SolarGlide. The brand combines it with a soft mesh upper that keeps your foot snug and comfortable on the Boost midsole. There is also additional padding in the heel area. This is supposed to take pressure off the Achilles tendon. In addition, the adidas SolarGlide for men and women has a wide, well-padded tongue. This means you can lace the SolarGlide tightly without the laces cutting in uncomfortably after a few kilometres. A grippy outsole provides the necessary grip, even during after-work runs in the rain. In addition, adidas offers the SolarGlide ST version. The ST stands for "Stability" and refers to additional support elements that help overpronating runners, for example. If you like to run in all weather conditions, you can find the adidas SolarGlide GTX with a water-repellent GORE-TEX membrane in our adidas SolarGlide Shop.
The technologies behind the adidas SolarGlide
Cushioning is the start of the adidas SolarGlide, but it's far from the end. Stabilising elements. A soft, supportive upper. Environmentally friendly materials. adidas delivers the full range:
Reactive Boost damping: small thermoplastic polyurethane beads form the core. What sounds abstract has the advantage that the material can be tightly compressed and deformed at will. Above all, however, it strives explosively back to its original position under pressure. This concept allows the boost technology of the SolarGlide to absorb the energy of the step and return it to you immediately. It's as if your shoe is actively pushing you off the ground. Hardly any other runner cushioning is as reactive. The idea behind adidas' Boost cushioning was developed by BASF, one of the largest chemical companies on the planet.
Solar Pulsion Rail for more stability: Boost provides the explosiveness. To make the most of it, your foot should also roll effectively. That's why adidas equips the SolarGlide with its Solar Propulsion Rail. This is a rail that optimises the rolling behaviour of the foot and thus provides additional propulsion.
Continental outsole for reliable grip: The weather should not be a limiting factor. But you still don't want to slip in the rain. That's why adidas put the SolarGlide on a Continental outsole. The rubber compound comes from the pen of the famous tyre manufacturer and therefore provides you with reliable grip even in wet conditions.
Comfortably reinforced engineered mesh upper: Engineered mesh has proven itself. It binds the foot tightly to the shoe, ensuring a comfortable feel at all times and is also breathable. Equally important for your run is the stability aspect. adidas does this justice in the SolarGlide with Tailored Fibre Placements. In places where the upper is exposed to the greatest stress, there are sewn-on reinforcements that do not impair comfort, but at the same time increase stability.
Primegreen for the environment: The idea of sustainability has long since reached even the big brands. adidas therefore makes 50% of the SolarGlide 4's upper from its Primegreen construction. These are recycled materials that reduce the runner's ecological footprint.
