AKU: ITALIAN HANDICRAFT TRADITION AND THE MODERN IDEA OF SUSTAINABILITY

What began over 30 years ago in Italian Montebelluna with the company founder Galliano Bordin, has developed over the decades into a successful company with an eye for innovation and design. Also high-tech mountaineering boots for the demands of the most experienced alpinists come from the creative forge of AKU and make the hearts of summit strikers beat faster. Sustainability and authenticity are written in capital letters at AKU and are a real heart affair for the makers of trekking, hiking and climbing shoes.

AKU PRODUCTS: MANUFACTURED AND DESIGNED IN EUROPE

All AKU models in the current 2017 collection are designed and manufactured exclusively at company owned plants in Europe. Over 90% of the raw materials and components used for the boots are traceable in this way. Also the components of the boots, which do not originate from European production, are geographically traceable to their origin. This transparency fits in with the company philosophy and the production ethics of the Italian company, which attaches great importance to products with long service life and wants to protect the environment as effectively as possible.

  • Technology: AKU is an absolute specialist for mountaineering boots, and uses the most modern and high-quality materials - such as Vibram® soles and GORE® -Tex.
  • Fairness: The shoes are manufactured almost exclusively in Europe - especially in Italy - all raw materials are traceable.
  • Environmental protection: AKU uses recycled materials such as rubber and EVA for the mid soles for shoe production.

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR YOUR WAY TO THE SUMMIT

Oriented to the anatomy of the foot, AKU has set itself the goal of producing the best outdoor shoes and is therefore working with various innovations: ELICA technology is the name of the system that stands for optimal and balanced pressure distribution. The sole profile and the insole of the shoe are slightly slanted to guarantee you more stability on your tour. Especially suitable for long hikes are the AKU Hiking Shoes, which are equipped with this technology. The multi-terrain shoes of the shoe manufacturer also score points. The AKU Climatica GTX guarantees you a perfect grip and is also waterproof, robust and extremely high-quality in workmanship. Have a look at the Keller Sports AKU online shop to find these and many other shoe models.

AKU STORE: SUSTAINABILITY AND AUTHENTICITY

The makers of AKU would like to supply you with long-lasting shoes, which have been manufactured under environmentally friendly production conditions. Low pollutant emissions as far as the components of the shoes are concerned is also an issue that is given special attention. As many recycled materials as possible are therefore used in the manufacture of the shoes to protect flora and fauna. The shoe cartons and the packaging material also consist exclusively of paper in order to reduce the negative impact on the environment as far as possible. AKU also supports local environmental groups and associations, such as Naturfreunde Deutschland or Trekking Italia, in order to bring people and nature closer together. AKU has kept its passion for the mountains from the very beginning and draws inspiration for ever new models from the alpine world, which AKU has to keep.
