ALÉ: THE COURAGE TO BREAK WITH DESIGN CONVENTIONS

For more than 30 years, APG has been producing high-class cycling clothing. Initially still acting as a pure manufacturer and supplier for other brands, the company wanted to reposition itself in 2013 and set up its own brand. From now on it should stand for high-end products and bold designs. Alé was born and already the name, which reminds of the French word Allez, conveys that there is only one direction: Forward!

Until then, clothing for cyclists was rather dignified, relying on calm colours. A convention with which Alé products broke from one moment to the next. The brand turned the world of bicycles upside down with bright, fluorescent colours. The combination of outstanding quality and exciting looks quickly made Alé jerseys and shorts a real hit. This is also reflected in today's figures: Alé, which has settled 30 kilometres south of Verona, now produces around 3,000 items of clothing a day.

ALÉ ARTICLE: "MADE IN ITALY" AS A SIGN OF HIGHEST QUALITY

Many clothing companies have their products manufactured in Asia. For obvious reasons: Production costs are many times lower than in Europe. Alé does not follow this trend, but continues to focus on quality and the "Made in Italy" seal. "This allows us to keep an eye on the entire production chain and control all the steps ourselves," Alé designer Arianna Scarduelli once explained in an interview with Cyclingweekly, adding: "We produce everything in-house. This helps to improve quality."

The majority of the fabrics used to make the jerseys, shorts and gloves also come from Italy. Only a few materials are sourced from other countries: "For example, we use very special, water-repellent fabrics from Japan," Scarduelli continued. But not only the materials are decisive for Alé products. Of course, it is also important to process them in the best possible way. This is why only experienced seamstresses are used for Alé articles.

ALÉ: ON THE TRACKS OF EDDY MERCKX

Eddy Merckx is an absolute cycling legend. With great fighting spirit as well as a lot of passion, the Belgian drove himself into the hearts of racing bike fans around the globe, won the title hat trick from Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and Road World Championship. The unrestrained will to victory of the "cannibal", as Merckx was called, is also what Alé has written on the flag. Based on Merckx, Alé created the "Granfondo Alé Merckx", which attracts thousands of cyclists to Verona every year to go on a big bike tour with Eddie himself. But Alé doesn't just enjoy working closely with the greats of the past. In order to guarantee its customers the ultimate in quality at all times, the development department consults with the best drivers in the world. For the Alé articles, for example, tips are constantly being sought from current cycling professionals in order to conclude this mountain stage as a winner.

ALÉ BIKE TROUSERS: ARRIVEDERCI BUTTOCK PAIN

We all know it: After the long bicycle tour, the buttocks hurt especially badly. Alé has long since declared war on the unpleasant pain and developed a particularly comfortable seat cushion with the ERGO HF. The padding is breathable and dries particularly quickly. But most importantly, thanks to the high density of the material, the direct contact point between the buttocks and the saddle is ideally protected. That's what they say more and more often today thanks to the Alé articles: Arrivederci buttock pain!
