CEP: GROUNDBREAKING INNOVATION DISGUISED AS AFFRONT
ISPO Munich, 2017. The innovation disguises itself as an affront. "I can barely do it without support stockings," many runners answer at the sight of the new stockings from CEP. The advantages of compression in sports were hardly known to athletes and dealers at the time. For the company medi is all the better. Already since 1951 the company in Bayreuth produced high-quality medical compression products and had made a decision months before: The medical expertise gathered over decades was to enable the sports world to make healthier, more intensive trips to the trails, the roads and the mountains.
So medi adjusted its medical knitting machines for nine months, adapting them to the requirements of the sport. The target? To create socks that on the one hand ensure the padding of sports socks and on the other hand ensure the pressure profile of medical compression. In order to give this task undivided attention, medi founded a subsidiary. CEP was born. Intensive tests with top athletes followed, finally the first models for runners and skiers. A product that promised new spheres of performance and regeneration. The necessary expertise. Innovation. Everything was there. What was missing was the access. CEP came from medicine, had no contacts to the sports industry. First of all.
A TRIATHLON RECORD AS A DOOR OPENER TO THE CEP STORE
Ironman Frankfurt, 2007: Timo Bracht almost floats over the track, clearing the thin finish line radiantly. The almost 4 kilometers in the water. The 180 kilometers on the bike. The final marathon. Until then, nobody in Frankfurt had managed all this faster than Bracht. All the more interesting are his white knee socks. CEP is there. Three letters, one certainty. Compression doesn't just mean support in old age. Compression also helps to achieve top performance in sport. It reduces muscle vibration and thus protects the legs longer against fatigue. It stimulates the joints, promotes blood circulation and thus helps to achieve greater stability and faster regeneration.
What CEP was still able to convey with difficulty at ISPO suddenly meets with interested observers. Timo Bracht's success served as a catalyst for CEP. Already the next day the stockings are sold out at most retailers, and CEP has found its way into the sports industry. So the company moves on. To leave even more impression, she positions herself for marathon and triathlon events. It's working. Active lactate mining? Muscle soreness and cramp prophylaxis? If it hadn't been scientifically proven, it would have sounded too beautiful to be true. But it's true. Today, CEP helps you to maintain and improve your performance while running, skiing, snowboarding, biking or hiking. High performance thanks to "support stocking".

ATHLETE INPUT FOR BEST MUSCULATURE AND JOINT SUPPORT
Compression stockings from CEP are made for extremes - but not only. They work just as well for marathons and triathlons as they do for a long flight or a leisurely hike. To guarantee this, CEP uses 10 kilometres of high-tech yarn for each stocking, plus an innovative circular knitting process that enables a constant pressure curve. In addition, each stitch of the 7-thread construction carries a special compression thread. In addition to the right technology, however, the necessary expert knowledge is also required. Since its foundation, Brand has therefore been working closely with top athletes and has their products tested under extreme conditions. And in the end you will benefit when freeskier Sven Kueenle, basketball player medi Bayreuth or alpinist and base jumper Stephan Siegrist give their input to the further development of CEP's compression clothing.
27 TEST SCENARIOS FOR PREVENTION, PERFORMANCE AND REGENERATION
Prevention meets performance, meets regeneration. This is CEP. A perfect fit and correctly placed pressure points stabilize the body and help prevent injuries and blisters. Prevention. Stimulation improves blood circulation, while stabilization strengthens tendons and ligaments. Thanks to innovative materials, naturally on dry feet. The performance. Finally, the increased blood circulation also accelerates recovery after a run, ski tour or hike. The regeneration. So that this triumvirate can play together at any time, CEP subjects its products to 27 different, sometimes very complex test scenarios.
