Lorna Jane discovered her passion for fashion early on. She crocheted her first bikini as a teenager. In her early 20s, she sits at her dining table every evening after work to design new outfits for her job as a fitness trainer. When more and more students ask where to buy the clothes, the Australian makes a fundamental decision in 1989: Lorna Jane quits her job to devote herself entirely to fashion. Two years later, together with her partner Bill Clarkson, she opens the first Lorna Jane store in a mall in Brisbane - at a time when "active wear" is hardly known even by brands like Nike.

The success of the Lorna Jane articles is overwhelming. When she opened her second Lorna Jane Shop in 1991, a customer bought the entire range at one go. Even today, the founder of the company likes to tell the story of how her husband came home on his bicycle with 25,000 dollars in cash. Since then, the success story has been unbroken: Today, the Lorna Jane label is considered the premium sports brand from Australia for the active woman in general.
