With the new Nike React Infinity Run, Nike tackles one of the biggest issues in running: Fewer injuries that hold you back in training. Our Keller Sports Pro Jan has tested what's in the new Nike running shoe and how it feels running it.
About the Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit
At first glance, the Nike React Infinity Run looks like a "classic" React running shoe from Nike. The interesting features can only be seen at second glance. The midsole contains more React foam for long-lasting cushioning and a springy feel. The shape of the midsole is a little bit like the Nike Zoom Vaporfly Next% because of the influences in its development.
Nike refers to it as the rocker geometry for a smoother rolling motion when running. When you look at it from above, you notice that the new React running shoe is much wider. This should provide additional stability. The upper uses the new Flyknit Loft upper material for more durability and breathability. In addition, generous rubber elements on the outsole provide support and grip on the running track.
How does it feel running in the Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit?
Flyknit and React are known for a high comfort factor, and so is the new Nike React Infinity Run. You get the running shoe laced to your foot very comfortably and can start running relaxed. The increased grip is directly noticeable without the running shoe correcting the athlete's running. With the help of the rocker geometry, you roll safely over the asphalt, even after a few kilometers. Here I noticed very positively that the running shoe offers a pleasant guidance especially in the mid-foot area.
The React foam lets you roll comfortably on hard surfaces and always gave me a little push forward. Whether the Nike React Infinity Run causes less injury is hard to test. Still, I didn't feel any increased stress with the running shoe, especially when running the day after a very intense session. The React Infinity is very versatile in training because of its features: relaxed runs, endurance runs or long runs are all no problem with the React Infinity.
