It’s still filled with synthetic insulation, retaining its warming powers even when damp making it perfect for in-between season activities and the shifting weather of alpine landscapes. But now this insulation is made from recycled polyester, putting discarded plastic to good use. The North Face has also updated the baffles to a square shape for better insulation. This hybrid version of the ThermoBall™ range is designed specifically for highly active pursuits. It has insulation only in the body; the sleeves are constructed from a stretchy elastane-polyester mix. You retain warmth where you need it without hindering or restricting your movements – ideal when hiking with poles or scrambling up ridges.
