THE RESULT OF YEARS OF RESEARCH

The starting point for the development of the GUIDESOLE technology was a simple yet innovative idea: ASICS wanted to enable runners to run longer, more relaxed with minimum energy consumption. Years of research began, hypotheses were formulated, strange-looking prototypes were built and countless tests were carried out. After manufacturing and functional problems were overcome, the GUIDESOLE technology was successfully tested by the ASICS Institute for Sports Science: The technology - an innovative sole design - helps runners to feel fresh for longer.

A COMBINATION FOR MAXIMUM RUNNING EFFICIENCY

Behind the GUIDESOLE technology is the combination of two already proven ASICS technologies: FLYTEFOAM and FLYTEFOAM Propel. A stronger, more solid layer FLYTEFOAM is placed over a thinner, softer layer FLYTEFOAM Propel. The top layer provides cushioning and structure, while the bottom layer reinforces a soft and propulsive feel. This, in turn, is made possible by the combination of a plastic material that retains its shape but can still be elastically moulded, the elastomer. This increases the bounce. In addition, the GEL Technologie in the heel provides cushioning during treading.

IT'S ALL IN THE CURVE

The biggest and most visible change that GUIDESOLE technology creates on the shoe is the curved sole design. Actually, running shoe soles are straight and segmented. ASICS abandoned this approach in its first shoe model with GUIDESOLE technology and instead developed a curved sole with a stiffer forefoot. The automatically generated rolling movement is now actually closer to Koron Koron. The centre of gravity of the shoe is shifted to the rear of the foot so that a faster, lighter swing phase is created with every step. The runner is gently propelled forward and loses less energy.

OPTIMIZED DRIVE THANKS TO LESS FLEXION

The curved design also ensures that ankle flexion, also called plantar flexion, is reduced. This term describes the bending of the foot in the direction of the sole of the foot. The GUIDESOLE technology reduces this flexion, the leg muscles have to work less and the runner saves energy. The running efficiency is optimized.

ONE FAMILY: METARIDE, GLIDERIDE & EVORIDE

Running shoes with GUIDESOLE technology belong to the ASICS energy-saving family. All shoes have a fast look in common. The first shoe in which ASICS launched GUIDESOLE technology is the ASICS METARIDE. The shoe has the most extreme sole curvature and since its launch has been enthusing with a completely new running experience, in which the foot rolls smoothly and evenly from heel to toe with every step. Especially for beginners this shoe offers optimal characteristics. The ASICS GLIDERIDE running shoe makes running easier for a larger target group of runners. The bend of the sole is a little more minimalistic here, the look catches the eye with the contrasting sole layers. The ASICS EVORIDE was recently added to the running shoe family. The neutral running shoe follows the METARIDE philosophy. It is the only shoe with a one-piece midsole. This means it offers full ground contact and is particularly light. Ideal for runners who want to increase their speed.

GOOD REASONS FOR GUIDESOLE

  • A pushing running feeling
  • Easy rolling from heel to forefoot
  • Reduces fatigue for longer runs
